Why I Show Up Every April

AdvocacyJune 7, 2026Brownie

April is Autism Acceptance Month, and it holds a deeply personal significance for me. Every year, I show up — not just to raise awareness, but to advocate for genuine acceptance and understanding.

The special needs community deserves more than a month of blue lights and puzzle pieces. We deserve year-round commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and respect. That’s why I use this time to amplify voices that often go unheard and share resources that can make a real difference.

Showing up means having the hard conversations, challenging stereotypes, and creating spaces where everyone feels valued. It means advocating for better services, more inclusive policies, and a world that sees ability before disability.

This April and every month, I’m committed to being that voice. Join me in making acceptance more than just a word.
